Andrew’s October 2020 Newsletter

(My quarterly Newsletter goes out to some 8,500 professional contacts worldwide. The following is my October 2020 issue. Back numbers may be accessed under What's New on this website

Greetings!

In less than a year, the world has turned upside down. A global pandemic of the century remains on the rampage. A new US Cold War against China is raging in all but name, fracturing the world's intricately linked supply and value chain. Political and military tensions are rising in the world's hotspots. China-India clashes high in the Himalayan borders, dark clouds over the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait, all come to mind. Behind it all is a shifting of global power, from the West to the East, from developed to the developing world, and from Western maritime to Eastern continental powers.

In these turbulent times, there is no lack of misjudgement, denialism, wishful-thinking, and double-standard obfuscation, not to mention imponderables over the imminent US presidential election. Seeing the wood for the trees can be challenging. The following may hopefully offer some new perspectives.
