Greetings!
The “Fiery Horse” seems fulfilling its promise as a traumatic Year on the lunar calendar, as tectonic plates of a post-world-war II global order are dramatically shifting.
With fig leaf removed, American leadership of a much-vaulted “liberal order” has morphed into reckless imperialism with naked rule of the jungle. Even America’s long-established alliances, including the so- called “Trans-Atlantic” one with Western Europe, are being called into question.
Meanwhile, “meat-grinder” bloody wars continue to rage over Iran, Ukraine, and other tinder-boxes in the Middle East. No tactics are beyond limits, including AI-assisted abduction, direct decapitation, distant proxies or weaponized global disruptions.
With a cool-eye on what President Trump really wants from his long-touted Beijing visit, Beijing manages to hold its ground with its new-found rare-earth global stranglehold, doubling down on China’s global trade and manufacturing supply-chain dominance and pivoting to the Global South, while playing the role as a peace-maker.
Meanwhile, a host of European and other regional powers are re-calibrating their reliance on Uncle Sam as a default trusted partner, now tilting towards Beijing to hedge their bets.
As the ancient Chinese poem goes, amid clamoring noises on both banks, the “China Boat” is sailing steadily towards its 2049 Centenary Goal of national renaissance, severe headwinds notwithstanding. Witness its latest 15th Five Year Plan.
Hopefully, the following may offer some fresh perspectives.
